Reading the labelReading the words trained protection dog
The phrase appears in nearly every advertisement. Few explain what the dog can actually do.

Obedience comes first
A dog that will not come when called or release on command is a liability, whatever else it can do. Missouri's strict-liability law makes that more than a matter of opinion.
A short ladder
- Basic manners at home and on a quiet street.
- Public reliability around crowds, traffic and strange dogs.
- Introduced protection work directed by a professional.
- Proven work that you witnessed yourself.
Requests that are fair to make
Ask to see the dog work, to read a written summary of its training and to talk with someone who has bought from the same source. Titles can count as evidence, but they are only one piece of it.

Promises nobody can keep
No professional can guarantee how a living animal will react in every situation. Perfect-behavior claims are a warning sign, and this site makes none.
